Wow all I have to say is bellbottoms and afros. Those are the only things I am thinking of when I hear this totally 70’s groove session. That of course and Tang, I mean who can forget about Tang. This fool doesn’t drink milk, he doesn’t drink lemonade, and he won’t even buy a Slurpy. He has made himself exclusive to Tang, his one true love. What this song is, is a 70’s love ballad to Tang. If only I were so lucky. The bumping beat and bouncy guitar make you want to dance along because you just know the dude singing this is busting out some moves in his orange bellbottoms, sideburns and aviator sun glasses.

This song is kind of like a mix between jazz, funk, and a somewhat contorted techno. I would classify it as a funk band progressing into techno with the vocals similar to that of tenacious d, except as a cleaned up version for kids. The instruments used are an electric guitar, snare drum, and a synthesizer creating the simple sounds of piano keys, all playing at the same speed in which a child chases after an ice cream trunk on a warm day. The musicality of this song makes me want to nod my head up and down, dance like I’ve never danced before. To keep it simple, it’s like a drop of heaven fell into my ears. If you’re walking down the street to buy a refreshing drink (preferably tang) on an upbeat, sunny day, then this song better be playing in your headphones because the musical influence tied with the anticipation of the walk would cause an explosion of goodness. It starts off with guitar, then begins with low pitched vocals, then a simple drum score repeats, along with a high pitched “ooh” sound like they always did in the 60’s, and finally completes with a hint of an electric piano. I was disappointed when the song ended out of nowhere with a random phrase, but other than that I very much enjoyed it.

Lyrics aside, this is might be the best song I’ll ever hear on this website. The funky vibe present in the clean guitar line already gets you in the disco / cool vibe. It’s so infectious and slick as it’s accompanied by the drum bass / hat beat, consistently gliding on the dance floor. If you don’t tap your foot to that Funkadelic-inspired rhythm, then there’s no hope for you. The quiet synth in the back really puts you in a mood to do some outdated dance while the present bassline does a little more to accentuate the party-atmosphere. If Rick James, George Clinton, and the Tang orangutan got together to write a house party hit, then this would be their groovy jam. Vocals are another strong point – the backing, high “hoo hoo(s)!” compliment the gruff, repetitive male singing. The lyrics don’t really bring a whole lot to the table, but it fits with the laidback attitude and calm nature behind the vocal lines. Not much out of the ordinary, though everything does sound relatively light other than that drum beat. Regardless, the sum of its parts outweighs their each one’s particular qualities.
