Funky! "When I was a baby, the people from my village threw me into some magma. Now Im older, and Im living among them. Ive got MAGMA POWER!" Then later: "When I was teen, I brought my little brother up to the lip of the volcano and I pushed him in. He got a little burned. And he started to cry. His flesh was burned off his face and his thighs..."

This song begins with this funky beat and then the lyrics start in, " when I was a baby the people in my village threw me into some magma" and the whole time I was thinking OUCH that would really hurt. But I guess he turned out okay since he got magma power--whatever that is. And that poor child burning in the volcano! This piece is definately catchy thouhg and makes me want to jump into some magma just so I can say I have magma power too. This songs seems shorter than what it really is so I guess thats a good thing. I wonder what happened to him when he was an adult with magma power. Thats a whole other song.

There is definitely some funky vibe going through my spine when I first heard this song. This song reminded me of the action heroes and villains from the Marvell comics. I have a vague memory that most of the heroes and villains started out as normal people just like magma man, but then something would occur and then they would have abnormal powers out of the human league. The next thing you know, magma man is turning evil because he probably wants to reign the kingdom and he pushes his little brother into the volcano. What could be more painful than that?

Magma Power, though starts out with pretty interesting background music, turns into somewhat of a bad dream. Because Magma Power had the applicable topic of “magic powers”, I had assumed that the kunjabunja would be interesting and fun, but I had been quite wrong. Magma Power sounds like a bad song you would hear at a decent sized café in the University District during open-mic, where I could imagine several people throwing empty beer cans and sticks of celery at the performers of this kunjabunja. This kunjabunja would have been much better off with less vocals and more music.
